After about 2 hour's of sleep we got up and caught a taxi from the Tropicana to McLarren airport. I have no idea what it is customary to tip taxi drivers and initially gave him an 80cents tip on a $9.20 bill which he made clear he was not happy with! Having increased it to $2.80 he seemed happier - 30% seems excessive?
Although we had booked with South-West, our connecting flight to JFK was with ATA (I guess they must be partner airlines or maybe even the same company with all the activity in the US airline industry?). Having boarded our flight to New York it was delayed. I was so tired I actually fell asleep on the flight! This was probably a good thing, as ATA is just the same as South-West (except maybe a little better, since you can book your seats before the flight).
We caught a taxi from La Guardia airport to the Howard Johnson Express Inn. This Inn is quite close to JFK which means less travelling in the morning.
